JON DEMARTIN

Jon deMartin received a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute. Studied primarily with Michael Aviano, the Art Students League with Gustav Rehberger and Nelson Shanks, and independently with Daniel Greene. In addition, he trained in cast drawing with Millet Andrejevic and Edward Schmidt.

Mr. deMartin has taught at the Art Students League, The New York Academy, Parsons School of Design, Gage Academy, Studio Incamminati, and the Woodstock School of Art. His work has appeared in Art in America, Art News, Art & Antiques, and The Classicist, and he has contributed articles to the magazine American Artist. Mr. deMartin is represented by The Classical Gallery in Alexandria, VA, Hirschl and Adler Gallery in New York City, and the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco.


MICHAEL GRIMALDI

Michael Grimaldi has studied painting and drawing at the Art Students League of New York, the National Academy, the New York Studio School, the Ecole Albert Defois and conducted independent studies in anatomy and dissection at Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Mr. Grimaldi has taught figure drawing and painting at the School of Visual Arts, the National Academy, the Water Street Atelier, the Gage Academy, Studio Incamminati, the Bay Area Classical Arts Atelier, Andreeva Portrait Academy, the Institute of Classical Architecture and was co-founder and instructor at Studio 126 and the Grand Central Academy of Art. In addition to the JCSA, Mr. Grimaldi currently teaches Drawing from Life at the Art Students League of New York.

Exhibitions include: National Academy Museum, NY; de Young Museum, CA; Arnot Museum, NY; Naples Museum of Art, FL; Arkansas Arts Center, AR; the Forbes Magazine Collection, NY; Arcadia Gallery, NY; Forum Gallery, NY; Hirschl and Adler Gallery, NY and John Pence Gallery, CA.

Awards include: The Edward G. McDowell Travel Grant (1993), Stacey Foundation Grant (1998, 1999), The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (1999, 2002), The Forbes Foundation-Residency Fellowship, Balleroy, France (2002), American Academy in Rome-Affiliated Fellowship/Alma Schapiro Prize (2007).


KATE LEHMAN

Kate Lehman was born in London and grew up in Paris. In France she studied at the Academie Roederer and ATEP Lecompte. After settling permanently in the United States, she studied at the Minnesota River School and the Water Street Atelier.

Kate Lehman has taught at the Minnesota River School. In 2006 she co-founded and instructed at the Grand Central Academy of Art in New York City.

Exhibitions include The Arnot Museum, Spanierman Gallery, Frost and Reed Gallery, John Pence Gallery, Arcadia Gallery, Grenning Gallery, and Meredith Long Gallery.


STEPHEN PERKINS

Stephen Perkins is a classically trained sculptor and painter. He studied with Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art, Elisabeth Gordon Chandler at Lyme Academy, sculptors Leslie Posey and Walker Hancock, and painters Nelson Shanks and Cedric and Joanette Egeli. He also attended the Lyme Academy with instruction from Deane Keller.

Mr. Perkins has won five National Sculpture Society scholarships, the Jennewein Medal and the Barlett Prize and the Posey Foundation Grant. In addition teaching quarterly workshops in sculpture and écorché at the JCSA, Mr. Perkins currently teaches national and international workshops.


DAN THOMPSON

Dan Thompson was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and graduated from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. He earned his M.F.A. from the Graduate School of Figurative Art of the New York Academy of Art, and supplemented his training with several years of private study and studio apprenticeships.

He has been awarded two grants from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and has twice received the Ethel Lorraine Bernstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Painting from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. In 2001, he won Best of Show in the American Society of Portrait Artists International Portrait Competition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

In 2006, Mr. Thompson co-founded the Grand Central Academy of Art in New York. He has also instructed privately at Studio 126 in New York and taught at Parsons, the New School for Design and the New York Academy of Art. He has taught workshops throughout the United States, and internationally in Canada, Italy and France. Since 2003, he has demonstrated portrait and figure drawing and served as a juror and board member for the Portrait Society of Canada’s International Portrait Conference in Toronto. He has also lectured at the Dahesh Museum of Art in New York and at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia.

Mr. Thompson's work can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States, and in Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
